Hans Roels is a Belgian photographer who has made more than 300 group portraits. Entreprises, organisations, hospitals, schools…
Whether they are 7 or 1007 in the picture, he always focuses on a feeling of involvement of each individual. And via a very strict organisational agenda, he prepares the whole group as a group for the ultimate moment.
So each of them is ready, looking forward and, ultimately, looking radiant.
Technically, Hans has developed a unique own method to make of each group portrait a vivid tableau vivant. Fully alive with human presence, pride and sense of the moment.
Hans focuses on cultures of other origin and is keen to learn about their values. He always looks to go into collaboration to realise a photo project. Collaboration reveals cultural differences but shows even more what we all have in common and enhances mutual understanding. The experiences of his field work lead to reflections and out of them grew a passion and love for cultural identities.
Hans exhibits his work in different galleries and has several photo books on his name.
Hans teaches photography, gives workshops and lectures on subjects basedon his experiences of photo projects realised in collaboration.
